Taxi service 'Uber' suspended in Sofia

Like every other place in Europe Uber (the web/app based taxi service) is proving controversial. In the UK, the London Black Cab drivers are raising issues over passenger safety, insurance and the competitive advantages that Uber has that they view as unfair. In Sofia the Competition Committee has suspended Uber for these same reasons.I came across this pro-Uber article on facebook this morning. What do you think ?, what are your Uber experiences ?.

"PETITION

Support Uber in Sofia and the right to choice!

Due to the decision of the Commission for Protection of Competition with great regret to inform you that the service UberX e suspended in Sofia.

Tens of thousands of people already had Uber as a safe, reliable and affordable way to travel in the city. The benefits of our service to share rides were recently confirmed by a study of the association "Active Users". The results are further evidence that Uber is the better alternative in price and what is more important - quality.

We believe in your right to choose. And authorities believe competition in the EU, including those in Germany, Denmark, Norway, France, Italy and Finland. Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition, however, is radically contrary opinion.

Having more choices is a huge benefit to society as a whole if and create difficulties's situation existing interests. Wider choice always leads to better quality and lower prices of services.

We live in a new world driven by technology. Regulations must evolve to enable it to take advantage of innovation performance. There is an obvious need for new rules to reflect the technical development of the 21st century. The power for this to happen is in the hands of our government and the choice of whether to hear your voice is yours.

Sign this petition and send a message to the government:

YES innovation
YES to new regulations
TO the right to choice "
